B Generous

That was on a license plate I noticed yesterday and I started to wonder...

I know many people who are generous with their time and money...even if it is in a small way. For myself, I am generous to a fault, especially in business.

I give my time and efforts to many pursuits that are not profitable. My Father and I used to discuss that quite a bit because it was, and is, a difficult one for me at best.

Finding that line between the need to create profit and the desire to give...the need to feed your passion and the need for money are, at many times, at odds for me.

That's why you are a perfect Gotham member! It's better to give than receive...

2d Fred's comments and I add you just enjoy being busy and productive and making a difference!

Spiritually speaking, Giving and Receiving are identical. One is not "better" than the other. If you are depleting yourself by "giving" to others, you are not really giving. Maybe those pursuits you mention are "profitable" in non fiscal ways. I have a few of those. I so appreciate your post, its a ongoing process. Right now the most generous thing I can do is be as kind as possible to everyone who crosses my path...

I like to think that I am like you, generous in business. I am very apt to give free advice, talk clients down through episodes etc.

I'm in the same boat!

You cannot change the core of who you are, and I know I speak for many of us--I'm glad.

It's also not just the money aspect of giving it's (for me) timing. We can't pour from an empty pitcher and I prefer that my family receive the best of me--not just what remains after a long exhaustive day. Favors turn into projects. I haven't mastered this yet either, let me know when you do :)
