Trade Show Attack

It was uncomfortable and took the fun away.

This past weekend, Bill and I went to the home show at Suffolk Community College. We are thinking about doing some much needed work in the house and decided it would be a good place to scout out some ideas.

From the minute we walked in, the exhibitors pounced. Literally pounced. We could not walk up an aisle without an exhibitor jumping out and insisting that we engage in a conversation. I started avoiding eye contact with anyone in the room.

Perhaps the most egregious was the exhibitor selling women's face and body lotions. (I have NO idea why this exhibitor was at the home show but that is a subject for another blog). He handed me a sample and then asked me to sit in a chair for a demonstration of some of the product he wanted to put around my eyes. I told him I wasn't interested but he pressed. I politely declined. He pushed again. Odd.

Overall, I am glad we went because we did gather some good information about house projects we are considering. (Has anyone out there switched to solar?). Next time, howevver, I will wear my dark glasses.

I hate having to say "Just looking".

I agree. However, they are just doing their job. The old saying, "you don't ask, you don't get"

Nancy, I let him put stuff under my eyes and it took a while to get it off!
