Great day to be born...

...especially if you love women.

Who knew that September 14 was such a powerful day for human rights and creativity?

In 1879, Margaret Sanger was born, founder of Planned Parenthood and one of the very first outspoken advocates of choice.

For all you lawyers out there, in 1921 Constance Baker Motley was born, first African-American woman to be appointed a federal judge.

Hard for Housewives

1934 brought us the fabulous Kate Millet, "a seminal influence on second wave feminism", and is best known for her 1970 book Sexual Politics, which was her doctoral dissertation at Columbia University, an extra "Yay" for the fertile ground of Manhattan.

Wendy Thomas (Melinda “Wendy” Thomas Morse), namesake, mascot and spokesperson for the Wendy’s chain of fast-food restaurants, came to life in 1961.

So celebrate this day (and every other) because without these women, the world would be a much duller place.

When I was 15, I decided I wanted to be a lawyer. No one thought this was a good idea. - Constance Baker Motley

Today also happens to be my mother-in-law's birthday as well as that of two of her grandchildren ( her son's son and her daughter's son). Its definitely a good day for my mother in law.

Sanger made a difference.
Motley a trailblazer who broke a glass ceiling or two.
