Packing

Summertime is a time for travel. Traveling involves packing. Some thoughts on packing:
Accept and embrace the fact that packing is a necessary part of traveling.
Accept that some ‘packs’ are easier than others.
Packing doesn't mean you have to re-assess your entire wardrobe.
Yes, weather is oftentimes a consideration but being unprepared for unexpected weather can add to the excitement.
If you're flying, remember that airlines want you to take less and penalize you (negative re-enforcement) for over packing.
And remember that your baggage is subject to inspection.
Make a list of what to pack. Keep the list. After the trip, make notes of what you didn't need.
Next time you pack, ignore the notes on the last list.
Safe travels.

After I decide what to pack I eliminate almost half and I still don't use most of it. I keep trying to travel lighter and lighter! I'm going to Italy in two weeks and I'm only bringing black.

Yes it's a ongoing process for me. Especially love the take notes, ignore notes part!

Addendum... keep in mind that there are strict rules regarding carry on luggage. No liquids over 3 oz, nothing that looks like a knife (even a nail clipper will be confiscated). Many airports around the world will require all liquid-type containers to be placed in a see through plastic bag. And most important for your packing list to anywhere during high season especially - don't forget your patience, sense of humor and amiability! It will keep you sane!

How much I pack depends on length of stay and availability (or not) of a certain device I am barred from using here.
