Motivation Needed

I go through cycles. Sometimes I am really charged up about getting to the gym, working out hard and planning my next workout.

 

 

And there are there other times when I literally drag myself to the gym thinking only about how fast I can get through my workout and get home.

 

 

I like it better when I am in the former, rather than the latter, cycle. But often I stumble about how to get motivated to get back to that cycle.

 

 

I suspect I am not alone. What do you to motivate yourself to exercise?

I tape my trashy reality television shows and only allow myself to watch them on the treadmill. It's gotten me out of bed more times than I will admit.

I go the the gym 3x a week. I am in a class so I am always eager to see my classmates. Sometimes they don't come and it's just me. My trick is marking off my calendar in advance and going at the same time on each day, if possible. My office then knows when I am out and doesn't schedule anything for those days and times.I almost never miss a session unless I am out of town. That's my motivation. And knowing that I will feel better after the session regardless of how I feel that day. I have been doing this for over 40 years.
