Bulbs

For more years than I am willing to admit I have gone to my local hardware store to buy a dozen outdoor spotlight bulbs for a 10% volume discount (buy local). At first I didn't notice, but after the passage of time I realized that the bulbs were blowing with cash register regularity. Being somewhat thrifty or penurious, I eschewed local loyalty and went to Home Depot looking for a more reliable, new fangled, longer-lasting bulb.

The result? Glory be!  I should live so long!  I can't wait to change one of these years and years bulbs!

We get them at Costco.
By the way, I love Cayce's comment.

Cayce, did you know that at one time tulip bulbs were used as currency? Maybe Fred can use the old bulbs to buy the new bulbs? Or buy flowers for Joanne?

Yes ... I am a bit nuts today. Is it cocktail time yet?

It's called "built in obsolescence". I'm not a conspiracy theorist although this concept feels like it. It goes back to my razor blade theory . My close friend and shrink brought this to light. He had a heavy beard . Every year Gillette would take about 1/1000 of a micron off the sharpening tool of its razors. Causing nicks . Also coming out with a new razor at about the same time . Whatever. More trips up the ladder, more trips to the Hardware Store and more exposure to risk which compounds with each blown out bulb . We , the lemmings of Idiotville fall for all of the scams and ruses we are subjected to in silence and frustration. Weakness prevails .
