There's An App For That

I am confident I have written this blog before but it has been a very long time -- and this world changes fast.

I am interested in hearing about your favorite apps. There are a few that are my recent favorites which includ

· Citymapper – this replaced HopStop a little while back and is a great tool for planning trips around the city by public transportation.

· ParkMobile – this one isn’t in New York (as far as I know) but we use it in New Haven when parking the car at a meter. You can extend your time and pay right from your phone. No more running out to feed a meter.

· Overdrive – with this app you can borrow e-books from your library. A great app if you are a Kindle reader like me.

· FindMe Gluten Free – we eat gluten free in our house. This app has a location function and will find restaurants with gluten free menus based on where you are.

What are your favorites?

I like Vivino. You can scan a wine label to it and it will tell you everything about that wine including its rating. You can also rate and store your favorites for future reference.

Nest- can turn Thermostat up or down or off/off no matter where I am, even if away. Using my Mac more than my iPhone I tend to use the Apps loaded on my iPhone less. I use WAZ some. If I get the iPAD things may change.
I use my Apple Music App alot but I do not consider that an answer relevant to the question.

My everyday app is WAZE. I can't live without the live traffic reports and the re-direction to avoid said traffic. It is not perfect all the time (sometimes it will have you go into another borough and then loop back for no apparent reason). But most of the time it is spot on.

I agree with Corey and Daniel. I could not live without Nest and especially Waze. Waze has saved me countless times from bad traffic and speeding tickets.

For fun, I like Starlight. Aim at the sky, day or night to see the stars and planets

Weather-local, house in country, travel destination; Citymapper; BBC News; WhatsApp-for keeping up with global friends. Especially for sending photos when traveling internationally.

Is it boring to say I love the news apps? I love to get alerts so that during a busy day I still can find out what is happening in the world. I also LOVE IMDb so I can find out who is starring in a movie I am watching since I often can't place the actor.

I still haven't figured out how to use Vhoto, but I love the concept: It uses the video feature of the photo app to get a stream of images -- so you can PICK out the one with the best expression.

Clock-wise, I like something called Alarm Clock for Me, a lot. Simple, does everything you'd want, and the graphics aren't cheesey.

Waze, Nest, MileIQ (tracks my miles for real estate business) - which makes my accountant happy!!!!
