A lesson From the Craft Fair
We were at a craft fair last weekend in the Berkshires. It was held at a ski slope, with most vendors setup in tents outside. There were also two lodges - one at the top of the mountain and one at the base - and some of the vendors were in the indoor lodges.
There was more foot traffic outside and, unless you realized that there were vendors in the lodges - or needed a restroom - you would have no reason to go into the lodge.
I was in the base lodge. It was quiet. I felt sorry for the vendors.
I looked out a window and saw a few clouds forming. A downpour would move people to the lodges, I thought.
A downpour would be to the advantage of some vendors but the detriment of others. In the financial world, isn't that what hedging is all about?
