As we all know by now, the UK voted to leave the EU. I found this funny and sad Instagram post and a very well written post to the Financial Times.

This represents the bulk of social media over the past day.

They say there is always a bright side, but I'm finding it hard to see one. You never know,,,

It is a sad day and the older generation should know better - they have indeed passed on to their children a mess....remember Yugoslavia? What happened when it broke apart! The odd thing about this is they had the best of both worlds - as a island with their own currency they really controlled much more of their country then most other Euro block countries.

After the shock, pay attention to process: the referendum is a recommendation to Parliament which has to vote; albeit in a parliamentary system a referendum has more electoral consequences. There could be buyers' remorse as the negative economic effects become clearer, the E.U. could create border controls, France and Germany may not want to carry the weight of sustaining the Western European economy without Great Britain...OR NOT !!!

I'm beginning to sound like an economist ! Harry Truman, frustrated with economic advisers giving conflicting advice ("on the other hand") said: Bring in the one armed economists !

As with most turbulent changes it is far too early to judge their effect. However, Brexit was defeated by a coalition between the economically hurting and inflamed bigotry of an anti immigrant campaign. There is good reason to believe that populist uprisings here and elsewhere will be strengthened by this decision. Only time will tell.

The exit process takes time. One home less insanity might prevail. Expect more from the UK to seek to live across the pond.

I think it's a healthy thing to reveal distortion wherever it exists, only when it's revealed can we change it.
