Chips

My full given name is Fred C. Klein and the C. might as well stand for Chip as I am so addicted to them that I well might be made of them.

Then, last week I sat next to my fellow Friar and New York Health and Aging GC Gideon Schein and right away I noticed his appreciable weight loss and, of course, always looking for a dieting SECRET, I asked him what did the trick and he said it was a low salt diet.  Hmm...

When I was young I ate a lot of red meat sprinkled liberally with salt, but rising blood pressure problems reformed me and now I rarely reach for the shaker.

Amongst the foods Gideon told me he now eschews are chips.

I love chips!  Who cares about the salsa. I have been known to quickly inhale a bag of chips before dinner.  Yum!

But now I am at a cross roads and just might have to change my middle name to Carlos (which is a story for another day).

Chips are like cigarettes - you always want more - the only way is cold turkey. But I know from experience - although I no longer crave them all the time - every once on a while I will look longingly at some one who is grabbing a smoke. ;0)

There are chips that are very good with low salt contents and baked, you could try those. I will even look for some new ones for you at the Fancy Food Show next week.

No-salt chips rule. I eschew salt as a general rule, But I also though you enjoy another special middle name that appears before the "C" which goes by the very familiar "_".
Gideon Schein

Chips, nuts, pretzels etc are difficult to eat in moderation. There are "low salt" versions, but check the label. "Low" means different things to different people. However, every once in a while a little blow out will not hurt.

"Chippies! Chippies! "We have goats ! My wife calls them in at night by yelling "Chippies!" And shaking a huge bag of bulk Costco corn chips! They come from everywhere on the property and devour the bag of chips and then we can lock them in the barn for fear of Mountain Lions . I'm into Cheeze-it's myself . The orange MSG laced cheese balls that stain your fingers orange . I wipe my fingers on my jeans and consume . Also this nonsensical baked and low or no salt version please spare me . I suppose you would also vote to stay in the EU also ? Give me the original Wise potatoe chips in the blue bag and I'll finish a whole bag before dinner too as my pulse jumps 20 beats a minute to compensate for the salt infusion. Crunch Crunch ! How about some homemade clam dip ? Onion dip ? You know with the Lipton's Onion Soup packet ! Flavor, texture and SALT !!

Chips cannot be eaten in moderation. Nor can almonds, which are my addiction.

What an appropriate middle name for a labor lawyer, as in "bargaining chip".
Dana Charlton

When it comes to success in business, you learned from your father, as your son learns from you, both "chips off the old block".
