It's Just So Sad

So many lives lost. So much senseless killing. So much suffering.

Watching the news unfolding on Sunday morning, I was struck by one mother. She had no idea where her son was. He went out for an evening of entertainment but early in the morning the world had changed. Her excruciating pain, fear and raw emotion were everywhere. Every interview left me hoping against hope for her to find her son.

But today’s newspaper reports sadly reported that he was one of the victims. One of more than 50 people who went out Saturday night to just relax and have some fun – and who will never come home again.

So so sad.

Assault weapons just need to be removed from general ownership and use.
In 1991, Local Law 78 banned them in the City of New York. I worked on that law as counsel/ chief of staff to the chair of the council's committee on public safety. (Administrative Code §§ 10-303.1(a), 10-306, 10-131(i) (6))
