I shared a few blogs ago plans to see Al Kooper at BB Kings.

Concerts generally invigorate and Thursday night proved no exception.

Al went deep into his catalogue with solo (just Al and his keys) versions of songs from the very first (and best) Blood, Sweat & Tears LP, “A Child Is Father To The Man.” The LP title perhaps resonates more as I enjoyed songs from a performer clearly at home in his element.

Al always showed great taste in selecting tunes by others and creating great arrangements. Indeed he opened with Randy Newman's “Just One Smile” from that iconic BST LP.

The encore featured Al walking through the audience as he sang “I Can't Quit Her.” I posted the entire setlist to Facebook.

Al Kooper

As I marvel at exemplary performing by someone in his seventh decade, I muse about how I can expect to “perform” in my own element a decade plus from now. I always share that I expect to work as I do now, and I hope to play ball much like I did yesterday (though three game-winning shots and 73% from the field may not happen again).

It's great to be young and a Batman!

Exactly!
Or in Corey speak, "to be even younger and. Gym rat."

Al Kooper is one talented musician - not to mention his connection to Dylan and Highway 61 Revisited.
and Super Sessions - a great version of Donovan's Season of the Witch.
Had the pleasure of spending time with Al many moons ago -
Quite a Character.

It's Fate, Destiny, Chance, Luck!!!! And many are blessed with it!!! Others, not so.
