Playground

I was talking to another Gothamite, the wonderful Sonia Saleh, about what Gotham means to us and how we view it. We came up with the concept of Gotham as Playground. Not to belittle the all the great work that is done within the Gotham Tribe, a playground to me is a place to try out new ideas, engage with like minded (and not-so-like-minded) people and learn from peers. A place where sometimes I fall down and sometimes I hit home runs. A place where sometimes I'm picked first and sometimes not at all. A place where the score doesn't matter, its how you play the game.

From Wikipedia:

The idea of the playground as a method for imbuing children with a sense of fair play and good manners originated in Germany where playgrounds were erected in connection to schools,[2] although the first purpose built public-access playground was opened in a park inManchester, England in 1859.

Fair play and good manners are a great start. I've got some things to master in those areas (along with a few Presidential candidates...).

Wikipedia's definition is interesting. Gotham is a safe and fun playground.

I like this concept. Gotham has been like family to me--I think that's a good thing!

Great analogy and wonderful philosophy for us to embrace. I love your blogs!

I appreciate the analogy but I prefer "agora" - a greek term for assembly of gathering place encouraging discourse, learning and exchange of ideas.
