The winter olymmpics in Russia officially opened last night (in real time it was yesterday morning) to a dream like staged sequence that looked like Cirque du soleil vs Disneyland. Although I really don't get excited about the opening ceremonies, there were two things that struck a chord. Israel came out followed by Iran...a kind of wierd statement of why these games exist. I wonder if they sat next to each other in the stands.
Recently, as a consequence of an orgy of photographing and Facebook posting, my iPhone battery ran out of power and I was DISCONNECTED! For better or worse, I instantly realized I'd become addicted and dependent upon that small (yet so big) window into the world.
I have always had a penchant for disliking pop music.  When I was in high school, the most popular music was "New Wave", as distasteful a genre of music that has ever existed.  It brought on the advent of electronically produced music. which has led to all sorts of bad things in musical history, including the distinct decline in aggregate musical talent.
Enough snow, really, enough snow.
Having the Monday blog spot the day after the Super Bowl puts me in a great position to be a Monday Quarterback. Of course, anyone who knows me knows that I don’t have the expertise to second guess the coaching of the game. My interest in the game is in the commercials.
We are skiing out west this week, a sport exhausting and exhilarating.  The key is to limit the exhausting part.  For this Eve and I have a deal.   I carry her skis for her when we start and finish the day and after lunch and hot chocolate breaks.  And she picks out my clothes each morning and night and has them all ready for me on the bed.
I enjoy plane rides. At least taking off. That's when you are pushed back into your seat from the g forces. I love the speed. Last night I was enamoured with the view of NY and Long Island from the plane as we broke through the clouds descending into LaGuardia. It looked magical with all the different lights twinkling, defining the natural geography. The water is black but you know it's there.
