Funny because I never gave them much thought till this week. I was at a new business appointment in a tool factory and after fist bump hellos and some conversation we exchanged them. Business cards.
Something so simple was so symbolic. It was a good feeling.
When was the last time you handed out your business card?
On Tuesday we returned to a perennial favorite Saloon. We were excited to go and we were welcomed by the familiar staff.
On the eve of Cuomo’s loosening of restrictions, no table seated more than four and they were well spaced along the walls with no seats at the bar and no tables in the middle of the room.
I am waiting, patiently, for the cicadas.
There is much written about the pending invasion, and I wait.
As the ground warms up, the time of their expected emergence approaches. Our son in Alexandria Virginia- where it is a little warmer- has already shared pictures of the creatures.
Although we see some every season, this year will be different with the great seventeen year cycle. The noise, the little crunching carcasses everywhere.
Recently, I’ve played a lot of golf. “Gettin’ down to divot town”, “ following the path of righteousness in my swing.” Literally learning the swing, then closing my eyes and following thru. YES! I hit the ball with my eyes closed. Twice.
For me? About 100 swings for 18 holes. Maybe 90-95. That’s a lot of swings. Hence, proper stretching is required, along with a good soak, a foam roller and a theraball for sore glutes.

Are there any other athletes out there learning how to stay in the game?
I have to admit that I sometimes struggle with sleep. I never had a problem when I was young but with age comes wisdom – and apparently insomnia.
This weekend was the weekend. I got my hair colored. The moment I see those pesky gray hairs peaking through, I start figuring out the best time to get my color done.
Every so often I think about embracing my gray. Women such as Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Meryl Streep have done so and look phenomenal. I wonder why can’t I?
Last year at this time, the outdoor office was nearly complete.
Going into this weekend I was not sure time would allow me to power wash the deck; that task remains the prerequisite to deploying the deck furniture stored in the shed, including the umbrellas.
Once in a while I notice a screw or small bolt somewhere on the floor in my house. I pick it up, stare at it and look around to see where it came from. I check all the surrounding furniture and appliances but nothing is misssing. So, I place it in a small draw on a table in my bedroom thinking I'll eventually find what this screw is holding together. However, that never seems to happen.
