Received an interesting email on Friday.  Sort of a Save The Date for The 43rd Annual John Lennon Tribute from Theatre Within, Saturday, December 2, 2023.  Shelly and I often attend.  So do other members of this tribe that hosts this and six other daily commentaries.  When we both are able to attend we meet up before shows with Vincent and Susan Russo.  I forwarded the email to Vincent and my daughter Marisa.

What intrigued me was not the first line of the "43rd Annual John Lennon Tribute at Town Hall," which is a larger venue than the usual "Symphony Space" location  at 2537 Broadway.  Nor was the first line of bolded large text., "Join us and an all-star lineup of artists to be announced soon" a major tease.  In small type that follow, it states,

"This year’s John Lennon Real Love Award Honoree  and headliner is a two-time Rock And Roll Hall of Famer!"

Now, that got me thinking.  John Lennon, a former Beatle and two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee.

Indeed all four Beatles, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr included are double inductees.  Could it be that Ringo or Paul is this year's honoree and deadline either Paul or Ringo.  As a member/supporter of Theatre Within, I'll get to access to its exclusive presale so if either living Beatles fills the bill, I should be able to secure tickets.

It also got me thinking, if not either Ringo or Paul, who could it be from among those other Double Inductees still living?

Eric Clapton, also a triple inductee as solo artists and with Cream and The Yardbirds?

Neil Young, as a solo artist and with Buffalo Springfield?

Neil's Springfield bandmate, Stephen Stills, also with Crosby Stills and Nash?

Still's bandmate, Graham Nash, also with The Hollies?

Rod Stewart, as a solo artist and with The Faces?

Rod's former Faces bandmate, Ronnie Wood, also with The Rolling Stones?

Jimmy Page with The Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin?

New Yorker Paul Simon, as a solo artist and with Simon and Garfunkel?

Carole King, as a solo artist and with ex-husband Gerry Goffin as Ahmet Ertegun awardees

Peter Gabriel, as a solo artist and with Genesis

and Dave Grohl, with Nirvana and The Foo Fighters.

I apologize if I missed anyone else among those still among us.

What is your guess on who it'll be?

Perhaps it is Stevie Nicks who is in solo and for Fleetwood Mack, nice list!
Rona Gura

Anyone from your list would be worth seeing. You have to post a follow up and let us know. I'm intrigued.

Agreed always a great event and a terrific cause.
I hope to go this year! And the mystery is huge!

Missed that one.
Not sure I agree on dual here but I find - as many know - flaws in the Rock Hall’s inductions and too many overlooked.
Start with Poco and Al Kooper
Tessa Marquis

Most of the interesting options are already dead or unrelated to John Lennon's legacy (IMO). So I am leaning towards N.W.A. for a revival of their hit song "F*** Tha Police" - which Lennon might have appreciated, or (ore likely) Debbie Harry.

One of your best posts of the year Corey! I was thinking Robert might be onto something with Stevie, but I'll throw another lady of song guess out there: Carole King
Kelly Welles

Carole King jumps out. Of course, anyone of them would be awesome. Saw American Masters. It's still reverberating. Plus, I live across the street from the onetime Hit Factory! And bumped into Paul shopping at my favorite health food store nearby, The Westerly. Then I saw War Games Saturday on PBS. Never knew John was looking forward to playing the crazed peace-loving scientist Faulkner who was the embodiment of "Give Peace a Chance", even though he designed the programming for Global Thermonuclear War. John was the perfect choice. Unfortunately, he died in December, a month before shooting began in January. Save me a seat, with or w/o Paul or Ringo.

Carole is an interesting pick. Closer to the date I'll be looking tour dates for all listed in this blog or the comments.
