Masks

Northwell Health, the largest health care provider in New York, ended its mask mandate the other day. This follows the lifting of mask mandates by most health care providers over the past few months and the end of mask requirements in general.
Nevertheless, I put my mask in my back pocket this morning - as I have done for the past three years. And I will probably continue to carry a mask, although I haven’t worn it in a few days.
I’ll keep it available for certain situations: doctor’s office waiting rooms, hospitals, and the like. I haven’t been on a train or subway in years and am not sure what the current situation is. Likely that the mask will come out if I find myself on a train or subway.
The mask, like my handkerchief, will routinely slip into my pocket.

I have a mask in every jacket pocket and always have one on hand. There are still places in the City that require them and so I am prepared. It's not such a burden. I see many people wearing them - all ages and ethnicities - and perhaps we are at the point where self-responsibility kicks in and people wear them when they might not be feeling well. Do you really carry a handkerchief? Wow!

I always wear a mask except when I am in an environment with lots of fresh air. I have breathing issues and am very self-protective. (There is an excellent bio of Dr Fauci on the Passport site on PBS. by the way.)
