Remembering

Lately, I have come to realize that I rely on my own memory devices more and more. I have begun putting reminders on my office calendar for more nominal events, such as remembering to call a client. Or I will text or email myself a reminder to make the call. In the past I would have depended on my own memory for the lesser crucial events. But now, for whatever reasons, I make sure to give myself a reminder.

The most overt memory device I use, however, are post-its. To ensure that I remember to perform a task, I’ll write it on a post-it and stick the post-it on the frame of my computer monitor. Not what post-its were intended for but it definitely the greatest and most overt use of the post-its in my office.

What’s your memory device of choice?

My phone and my laptop. I have two calendars, one for work with Outlook (and sometimes personal) and one for personal just on my phone. Of course I can pull up my Outlook calendar on my phone as well. I used to use post its all over my desk but working from home has changed that mostly due to space. I find the electronic version better as I get alarms to remind of it.
