The Annual Commercial Review

I write this blog every year after the Super Bowl.  Honestly, I’m typically not all that interested in the game itself.  But the commercials, the commercials are the draw for me.

Sadly, I wasn't all that impressed this year, although a few stood out for different reasons:

* For Sopranos fans everywhere, the reunion of Meadow and AJ to the show’s opening credits caught all of us who were addicted to every episode.   What was the product they were selling?  Oh, right, Chevy.

* The Coinbase QR Code?  Someone explain that to me.

* The new Prince of Bel-Air ads really grabbled my attention.  Unfortunately, we're not Peacock subscribers -- but if we were, we would watch.

* Did you know that Uber Eats delivers more than just "Eats"?  You do now!

What grabbed your attention – for  better or worse?

Loved the Sopranos commercial. Although totally disappointed that it wasn't for a new series.

This year in my new digs, my son and I were invited to a fairly large "garage" Super Bowl party. We were part of a block wide 25 people affair. Fun yes, but too loud to understand the details in the commercials. So, I had to wait until the next day and catch some on line or on regular TV. Loved the Sopranos (nostalgia) and Coinbase. It's simplistic mix of old school video game caught most in the room and even it crashed their website for number of users that went onto the QR code. By the far the most effective commercial for the $7 million it cost to broadcast it.

Sopranos was my favorite, too.
I cover similar territory(but talk of the game and half time, too) in my Super Bowl blog tomorrow. Sorry Nancy!

I have so little interest that I didn't even watch the parts of the festivities that were sponsored by Juiceplus+ some of which were on Saturday and some on Sunday during half-time. I watched a couple of plays at the beginning to see why the Lions traded the quarterback for the Rams. Then I settled into an evening of reading and relaxing. So what now? Basketball?
