It’s January 8th  as I write this. I am putting away some of the generous holiday gifts I received. Included in those gifts are two planners/journals.  They are very pretty and  beautifully crafted. The question is, for me, whether I will use them.

One of the attorneys in my office still uses a paper diary (a red book). Given the ease of electronic calendars I have always questioned this.  I also question how the use of a paper planner will conflict with my resolve to go paperless. But now I am looking at my beautiful new paper planner and wondering. . .

Do you use a paper calendar? How about a paper journal?

How about starting a diary in the red journal?

I use a paper calendar and have notebooks for my daily journal for business that I then use to update my CRM and it is also where I keep notes from events, training, and coaching sessions. I am not intending to trade in the calendar but I am looking to move away from the journal. it's duplicative and I really cannot effectively go back and find anything anymore. SInce you have the journals - enjoy them!

I agree and do as Shelley does. I have paper spiral notebooks I use to transfer my info into my CRM. I write quicker than I can type so it works for me. I also like a paper calendar that I can jot important notes on and see at a glance on my desk, most of which eventually also goes into my Outlook calendar. I am not a journal keeper anymore but used to for many years. Keep it if you enjoy writing.
