Updating

Computer updates. I have to admit that they give me anxiety. Whenever I see the prompt when I try to turn off my computer that there updates are available I get nervous. There there’s the prompt as to whether I want to update and restart or update and turn off. More anxiety.

I am uncertain as to where the anxiety stems from. Could it be that sometimes, after a lengthy update, it takes my computer a significant period of time to turn on? Time that I just sit and look at the screen praying that it will turn on? Or could it be that, after some updates, I am forced to run through certain programs to see the changes? Or perhaps, a bit of both?

Do you get update anxiety?

I get it annoyed when it takes too long for my computer to update for sure.

Anxiety around the unknown! Sounds about right. After the update, we have no clue what awaits us. And then there are the programs requiring reentry through a password we have forgotten. I try to update when I can step away and do some reading or something to distract me.

Can't ignore them. They are a necessary evil in a world that is ever changing. Most help with a patch or security updates, so usually a good thing.

My husband believes in ignoring them. I admit to becoming anxious at the announcement. It took me so long to memorize what I am supposed to do in some cases that I know my workflow will be interrupted, when I forget. I am not fond of being so dependent on computer literacy because mine is so iffy.
