The expression is “Let a smile be your umbrella” and it is profound.

To smile is to appear pleasant and agreeable.  That’s a powerful social tool.

A smile conveys feelings of happiness, hope and positivity to anyone who sees it.

When you smile, you are sending a nonverbal message to those around you that they are accepted,  welcome and that all is well.

Have you ever noticed that some people lead there way with a smile?  It usually works too.

Studies show that the best nonverbal technique one can use to appear more accommodating is to smile.

A smile is also a mood enhancer and makes you feel good.  I remember my running coach telling me that when I suffered a side stitch in a race I should smile to alleviate it and it worked.

I have also noticed when I take my blood pressure that it is lower when I smile through it.

Of course, photos are so much better when you say “cheese”. See above.

A smile builds trust!

As Nat King Cole sang: What’s the use of crying? You’ll find that life is still worthwhile if you just smile...

And let the smile on the outside make you think about something to smile about on the inside. The best of all worlds.

Love it! I’ve read that research that when you smile you increase endorphins and actually feel happy - even if you fake it til you make it!

One of my favorite sayings is 'Smile, it makes people wonder what you're up to.' :)

Smiling also uses far fewer muscles in your face than frowning, leading to fewer wrinkles as another benefit.

The song Smile was written by Charles Chaplin. Also, when talking on the phone remember that "a smile on your face is a smile in your voice."

Smile... You’re on Candid Camera . Yeah ..... about those smiles . Ever been ambushed by one ? I have . I’ve seen them all . The smile of betrayal . The smile of the victor . The nervous smile . And of course the smile of happiness . All can be disarming . Teeth, lips , dimples and eyes all play a roll. The boss walks in the door with a smile . What does it portend ? Your girlfriend smiles as she tells you she met someone else ? Aaron Judge smiles after he takes a third strike . The smile of agreement , acknowledgement and even disgust . Always either disarming or well intended a good smile can be difficult to read. An intimate smile ? You’ll know it when you see it . You’ll feel it’s seduction . This characteristic or gesture if you will is not exclusive to humans . In their own way all of nature’s living inhabitants smile . Tell me the rose isn’t smiling as it blooms. Tell me the sun isn’t smiling as it rises over the eastern horizon . My dogs literally curl up their lips in a smile every time I walk in the door . Birds singing ? So yeah Derf .....The smile is a complicated thing . Not so simple .

There are surely smiles that tell you what is coming and it’s not always good.

There is so much including s paraphrase of a quote former US Rep. Patricia Schroeder that she attributed to her dad: “Smile at your enemies; it kills them.”

As to tunes i like current Eagle TImothy B. Schmit’s then-Poco sond “(Whatever Happened to Your) Smile” .
And the Traffic classic < https://youtu.be/RpIXWK7IHeI >, also covered by Blood Sweat & Tears , “Smiling Phases.”

Smiling does all of the above and then some. Rarely do I not get a smile in return, and indeed, when the smile is genuine, it lifts your spirits as well as the those of the recipient. :)

A smile is your first point of contact. I was at a party Sat night (not really loving it)---and I smiled throughout because everyone was having a good time. You can be genuinely happy for others---starting with a smile. :)
