Home Alone

Joanne went to a Film Festival last weekend and left me home alone with Charcoal.

Home Alone:  The prospect was alarming and sad.  I anticipated a pretty lonely experience only highlighted by feeding and walking Charcoal.

However, things began to look up when I asked my 2 teen aged grand children if I could take them to dinner and a date was made and we went out Friday night for Sushi.  Yum.  I shared sushi for two with grandson Jackson.

Things kept happening and I ended up being invited to go to Woodstock with my son David and Jackson.  See photo above. Thank you Debbie and Peter for inviting Charcoal to "Camp Lindner" so I could go!

We hiked, played pool, ping pong, watched games and did all sorts of guy stuff in Woodstock and in the end I shared 7 consecutive meals with Jackson. A very rare thing indeed for a grandparent!

Needless to say, the weekend ended up grand and my experience was far far away from Home Alone!

Not home, nor alone. Sometimes no plans turn into the best of times. That is the beauty of what can be made of life.

YOU were a blank page - open to possibilities - and some body wrote you a fairy tale.

So glad the story ended so fabulously and the weekend turned into such a wonderful series of events. They know how to take care of you and most importantly took the time to do it.

Perspective and scenarios . The concept changes . Home Alone . I love being alone . In my own home especially. In a perfect world Diane is coming back . I can eat what and when I want . I can sleep with the dogs under the covers . I can turn up the volume on my selected list of shoot em up movies . Blast Steely Dan late into the night ! Rare T- Bones and Rare wine ! Cigars and Single Malt !!! BUT ! What if she weren't coming home ? EVER AGAIN !! Home Alone becomes something else altogether ! What about coming Home Alone to an empty house ? For just a day ? Forever ? Everything changes . Are you comfortable in your own skin ? Even Home Alone ? Me ? Things have to be just right . If Diane flys off to Rome or Florence for a week I'm cool . Just as long as she calls once in a while to tell me she loves me . But if I don't hear those words every week or so ..... Well.... Home Alone ain't so much fun . It's all relative . Alone in my Castle ? Yeah but I share it don't I ? It's certainly not a bachelor's pad . Can I smell her presence ? I hope so . So fire up the grill and get Dire Straits on the Sub Woofer ! Throw on the beef . The best of both worlds . Diane will be back tomorrow and she loves me !
