Dr. Odey Raviv is a learning specialist and academic coach who has worked for over 30 years with students facing academic challenges. He has always been fascinated with helping students of all ages learn and thrive. Since his first experience as a teenager working with children, he has known that becoming an educator was his destiny. Dr. Raviv began his career by teaching in the toughest neighborhoods In New York City. He then pursued a doctoral degree in special education at the University of Florida where he was granted a doctoral fellowship to research learning differences and social acceptance. After receiving his Ph.D, Dr. Raviv resumed and broadened his work in education by developing a career which encompasses being a learning specialist, professor, administrator, and academic coach throughout New York City and Long Island. Focusing his work on students encountering learning differences, attention deficits, inconsistent motivation, anxiety, and memory weaknesses. Dr. Raviv demystifies the learning process by teaching alternative strategies and skills that will positively impact on their school performance and prepare them to succeed at college and beyond.
I am a Learning Specialist and Collegiate Academic Coach who works with college students facing a variety of academic challenges. Learning Differences, Attention Deficits, Executive Functioning, Reading and Writing Challenges, Anxiety, Memory Weaknesses, Organizational and Time Management Struggles are some of the issues that my practice targets.
I see local students at my offices in Glen Cove and on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
Working with students via FaceTime and Skype is an extremely effective vehicle to monitor progress and check on accountability while building study, reading, and writing skills.
