Levey Consulting, founded in 2000, provides top-notch fundraising and grant-proposal writing and research services. Jill Levey, Principal, has worked in the non-profit sector since 1992. She has worked with clients in many different fields, including disability, youth development, social service, arts, and education. Jill is also an expert at helping high school and college students write and edit papers, and welcomes work in this area. She is also available to help executives, especially those whose first language is not English, with writing and editing documents. Before starting her own business, Jill worked for four years as an Assistant Director at the Columbia College Office of Alumni Affairs and Development. Her responsibilities included soliciting donations from alumni, leading training sessions for volunteer fundraisers, and recruiting board members. She created a fundraising manual for alumni volunteers and worked closely with board members and alumni leaders to achieve ambitious fundraising goals. She raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the College. Prior to working at Columbia, Jill spent three years at The Brooklyn Historical Society, a museum, library, and education center in New York City. She was initially hired to run the public relations department but was quickly promoted to the position of Director of External Affairs. Assisted by one person, she ran all fundraising and public relations activities. She handled grant-proposal research and writing, ran successful benefit dinners, coordinated exhibition openings, wrote and edited a quarterly newsletter, and helped the Society receive outstanding press coverage. Raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Jill graduated from Stuyvesant High School. She received a bachelors degree in Psychology from Columbia College, Columbia University and earned a masters degree in Elementary School Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
