As long as you pay your premium, whole life insurance offers you:

-A death Benefit and Cash Value that only go up
-Not Market Correlated so there is no volatility
-Growth is tax deferred
-Protected in many states (including NY) from lawsuit (Your other financial assets likely aren't)
-Waiver of Premium Rider will pay your premium for you if you become disabled (what other product would do that?)
-Unlike term life insurance that 98% of the time doesn't pay, whole life will pay a death benefit and has cash value that can be used for:

  *   Paying estate tax
  *   Providing a legacy for your children and/or charity
  *   Spending in Retirement so you have additional income
  *   Taking care of a spouse/partner left behind
  *   Money for long term care, etc

-Whole Life can be borrowed against easily at favorable rates so it has great liquidity
-Whole life cash can be accessed tax free up to your basis, the death benefit is always tax free
-Whole life can be a buffer against bad market sequence of returns (You don't want to sell when the market is down)
