[Fredslist] Compensation Question for Poached Human Resource

 Dear Gotham Tribe Members

I have an independent subcontractor working for a client through me. The client wants to hire the resource directly – part time now, and eventually full-time.

I am not fighting the request (there is no win-win in that), but I do want compensation (be made whole) for loss of income to me as a result of his working directly for this client.

My resource and I have a long history and we are working together on other projects; and he is more important to me than the client from whom I expect other future service requests.

I plan to ask for compensation from the client for the loss of income to me, now and future as the client want to eventually have him full time (loss of future income for me).

My question is how do I calculate / how much $ should I ask for from the client.

Looking to hear from anyone with knowledge or experience with this.

All best,

Rick Raymond
