[Fredslist] My Journey through Fredslist

To All,
Although I've been a Gotham LI member for about 8 months and have ridden the circuit a bunch of times, I'm still navigating my way around the ubiquitous and incredibly useful Fredslist. In the beginning, it took me more than a few weeks to figure out how to set myself up on my Gotham members page. And this even though I consider myself fairly adept with technology. Finally, with the help of Mitch Tobol, the Gotham Webmaster, I was able to sign up to daily Fredslist postings.
Now, being able to receive and peruse the Fredslist postings was only the beginning of my journey. I wanted to learn how to respond to specific questions and, ultimately, to be able to post myself. So with the timely help of Corey Bearak, my colleague and long-time member Renee Richter and the Gotham web manual, I finally figured how to post. Not a big deal. But it was helpful to understand the process by which posts are first reviewed (by Corey) and then sent out to the Tribe.
But now that I had begun to respond to inquiries on Fredslist, I found it to be hit or miss. Was my response timely? Had it been received? If the person does not reply to me, does that mean they already have enough responses to satisfy their request? Do I even bother to send a response many hours after the initial posting? And what does this "Renatto" mean anyway?
So, after all these months, how do I feel about Fredslist? Although I still have a few questions, Fredslist and I are becoming good friends. I have found Fredslist to be informative and incredibly useful. I am even a member of the Advocates, which is a group run by Ben Geizhals consisting of members in the healthcare field. Ben makes sure all healthcare-related issues (which are often acute and time-sensitive) on Fredslist get sent directly to the Advocates, in addition to the normal Fredslist posting. Thus, these issues are highlighted and given the immediate attention they deserve. This is just another great feature and benefit of Fredslist.
Here's to Fredslist and Gotham. It is one of the many good things that sets us apart.
Best regards,
Dan
