Thanks for the tip, I will apply. (This is what makes Freds List so valuable!)
FYI - in London they have the Oyster Card, had it for years….self replenishes - but also the more you use it the less you pay per trip….
But I am glad to see this finally arrive in NYC!

I love my easypayexpress Metrocard
Works just like EZ Pass.
At MTA website, put in credit card and they send you a card that you don't need to refill. It happens automatically.

It starts at 6:30am and goes to 9pm only Monday through Friday. I use this one almost all day (Metro is $2.75!). Via is mostly Black Suburbans....so that feels cool too =).

I don't see any time restrictions, so I use it during the weekend also. It's cool because they will only make 1 other stop (4 people total, but only 2 locations total), so one time I went from 17 State Street, all the way to the upper east side, for $5...on the FDR! Now that was awesome!

I spoke with one of the drivers and they have a huge incentive to pickup people between 5pm-8pm, so that's good to know (because they're also Uber drivers, so they can pick and choose...). So if you're not in a Via zone, and Lyft is too busy, this is great during those hours!
