[Fredslist] Announcing “Gotham City Networking High School Oratorical Competition – Progress: A Product of Change"

We are very excited to announce a new Gotham initiative.
On Saturday, November 9, Gotham will hold its first annual oratorical competition for high school students, themed “Progress: A Product of Change”.  Personally, I am very proud to say that this initiative is the brainchild of my daughter, Jaclyn, an 11th grader at Syosset High School, who is an avid oratorical competitor in multiple formats and who will be the Chair of our competition.
We are also excited that through Gotham NY Women’s Co-Chair Victoria Roberts Drogin, Executive Director of Mercy College, School of Business, Mercy College has agreed to partner with Gotham on this initiative.  Mercy will sponsor and host our competition which will take place at its NYC campus, at 6th Avenue and 35th Street.
Contestants will need to prepare and present a 6-8 minute oration on the topic.  Monetary prizes will be awarded for the top three finalists.
Here is what we are looking for at this point.  If you have contacts at high schools in the tri-state area, please let me know. Ideal introductions would be Social Studies Departments, English Departments, Guidance offices, Speech/Debate teams or Business clubs.  We would like to get the word out to students before the end of the school year about this terrific opportunity.
