Position Opening:  Development & Marketing Associate
 
Background
Brooklyn Community Foundation is a community foundation based in and serving Brooklyn, New York, with a mission to both raise and grant funds to nonprofit organizations that contribute to the quality of life, enrichment and advancement of Brooklyn residents. The Foundation has a team of 8 staff focused on grants management and community group relations, donor and Board development and fundraising, communications and public relations, and internal operations.
 
With assets valued at over $55 million, the Brooklyn Community Foundation relies on both its investment returns and a growing fundraising effort to support internal operations and annual grant making, which totaled $4.4 million in 2011.
 
Position Description
Brooklyn Community Foundation seeks an energetic, creative and technically savvy Development and Marketing Associate to join its team. The position will play a critical role in helping the Foundation achieve its mission to improve the lives of people in Brooklyn. The incumbent will report to the Vice President for Development and External Affairs, and work closely with the Director of Marketing and the rest of the foundation staff.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
 
·       Support all donor and marketing communications including donor acknowledgements, proposals, pitches, marketing collateral, website maintenance, correspondence, etc.
·       Support and maintain Raisers Edge database including data entry and editing, generating reports and acting as primary liaison with Blackbaud technology team.
·       Oversee receipt and processing of contributed revenue.  
·       Provide administrative support for Development and Governance committees of the board including drafting minutes and agendas. 
·       Play key role in all facets of donor stewardship and cultivation.
·       Support production on all special fundraising and external relations events including annual fundraising benefit and donor cultivation events.
·       Oversee donor & prospect research.
·       Maintain smooth running department by maintaining files and calendar, scheduling meetings, managing vendor contacts, and Department budget.
 
Requirements
Proactive, creative and goal-oriented candidate should have:
·       At least 2-3 years experience in fast-paced fundraising office. 
·       Superb writing, organizational skills, and people skills.
·       Experience working with, and fluency in, Raiser’s Edge database.
·       Good graphic design and multi-media skills.
·       Experience managing multiple projects.
·       Experience in pitching and closing deals.
·       Working knowledge of software including Powerpoint and Excel.
