THANKS TO ED BIENSTOCK
For anyone looking for jewelry—be it diamonds, gold, platinum—there’s only one place to go and that is Ed Bienstock of Bienstock Private Jeweller located at 10 West 47th Street, NYC. My husband wanted to indulge me with a new diamond ring for our 25th wedding anniversary. He had come upon a recommendation on the Gotham website about this company. He made a few phone calls to Ed relating to him what we were looking for and we were off to the city.

We met Ed at his office and were immediately taken with his warm welcome. He spent several hours showing us diamonds, pointing out each positive quality as well as every flaw for each and every stone. Ed insisted that we look through a jeweler’s loupe as well as having us look at the stone through a microscope. He answered each of our questions with great patience and professional knowledge. He was never pushy or overbearing as many of the diamond district jewelers can be at times.

After much time, we decided on a stone (diamond) and a setting, and agreed to talk to Ed by phone before we would come back to pick up the final product. We left feeling good.

Over the next couple of weeks we spoke by phone over little details. Ed wasn’t satisfied with one of the side stones for the setting, although we would never had known, and insisted on requesting a new set. Ed’s honesty was incredible through this whole process which everyone knows can be a blind purchase for the average person. The ring was finally ready!

Instead of having my husband and I make another trip into the city to pick up the ring, Ed offered to drive it out to us on Long Island. And he did just that --- a yellow Penske truck pulled up in front of my house, Ed stepped out, and the most beautiful ring (with all the appropriate certificates) was placed upon my finger. It is a truly breathtaking piece of jewelry, one I probably would not have gotten, had it not been for Ed, who has such patience, honesty and overall charm.
I know many people do not like the trip into the city, but it is definitely a trip worth taking for this kind of purchase. Ed is a rare gem himself!!
