[Fredslist] PINK SLIP PARTY

Hi Gothamites,

I recently began working part time at Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO
Brooklyn.  They are working on producing PINK SLIP PARTY, an event the
evening of June 16th for mid-career New Yorkers, particularly in the creative
economy or those looking to transfer skills to a new industry who have been
recently laid-off.  I know a lot of members send out promotional emails
advertising services for interviewing and resume coaching, etc.-- This is a
great way to network and promote your services, and is also an excellent way to
search for talent in a pool of established professionals. 

The evening will consist of three primary activities: a series of insightful
5-minute presentations on a wide range of career building topics, informal
networking (socializing) over drinks, and an exciting performances by local
artists. We also plan to offer a free resume review for the first 100 people to
sign-up for the event.  We are looking for people willing to provide
resume reviewing services for this portion of the evening.  If people
enjoy the night, we plan to make it a monthly event.

Hailey Ratigan at : hailey at galapagosartspace.com.  Let her know if there’s
a topic you'd be interested in talking about for 5 minutes. Some possibilities
include: what industries are growing, common job hunting mistakes, how skills
from one industry can translate into others, the creative economy, the green
economy, creative or unusual opportunities, inspirational success stories.

 In exchange for your participation, we will include you on all
promotional materials, provide a link to your website, and offer you free drink
tickets. Since this is a free event so there is no budget to offer you monetary
compensation, but we hope you consider it an excellent opportunity.
