[Fredslist] Need to vet bank/lender - find out if they're legit

Hi everyone:

We've been approached by a potential client, a provider of student
consolidation loans and VA loans, to work with them on their online
marketing.  We're wondering if anyone can assist us in learning more about
this organization from a regulatory/banking point-of-view to make sure
they're completely legit and have a good relationship with the government
and banking regulatory agencies.  Our initial research shows that there are
lots of players in this space and that they're not all good; these guys have
checked out so far (good BBB ratings, no consumer negativity on the web) but
we want to be as thorough as possible.

I'm not even sure what questions to ask or where to go to learn more about
this company....so if anyone here has experience in this arena, can you
please let me know?
