Gotham Family: This is well beyond anything I can do (this if a situation where someone knows my wife, casually,  from the horse country") and at wits end called  me with an urgent appeal. Hi Gary. My name is Margaret Wood, cousin of Bonnie Rafferty. She told you a part of the problem; well here it is. My niece Deirdre Aiken has been incarcerated in Nassau County since June 29 until July 22 and then was taken to Rikers Island to appear in court. Her son passed away suddenly this past Wednesday. Her husband Robert was in touch with Rikers Island immediately. They told him to bring with him on Friday his sons birth and death certificate originals, which he did and was not allowed to visit with his wife until all necessary papers were taken care of.  They informed him that was all he needed. He also furnished the information about the funeral arrangements. I also gave him funeral clothes for my niece to attend and say goodbye to her 16 year old son and best friend; which they advised her husband to do.  The first day of his wake, I, her aunt, went for a visit while her husband was taking care of things with their 14 year old daughter, which who does not only not have her brother for the rest of her life but cannot even be with both of her parents. Deirdre was told on Saturday morning to put on her funeral clothes so she would be ready.  When we cut our visit short, so nothing would be messed up, I approached captain in charge to ask if Deirdre was approved or denied and she told me to call her at 1:30, which I did and she told me my niece was denied.  When I asked her who denied it, she told me the chief of security. My niece now sits in a psychiatric ward in Rikers Island not able to attend her sons wake or funeral.
