Thanksgiving Weekend

This was a weekend of old family traditions, snowed out traditions, and new ones.  We spent it in the Berkshires.  There were about twenty of us, young and old.  It has been a number of years since the extended group (almost) all assembled in Lenox.

One of our traditions is touch football on the golfcourse just a few yards from the house.  This year we were all looking forward to that, but a foot of snow made that pretty much impossible.   We also go bowling every Friday after Thanksgiving. That we managed to do, but on Saturday.  Just as well.

The snowed out football game however gave birth to something new. Sleighriding.  We bought a $20 plastic slide and took my almost two year old granddaughter flying down a hill on the snow covered golf course.   That was worth missing football for.   She also joined us in bowling, her first time ever.  Just seeing that little tiny girl in bowling shoes was enough of a treat for me.

By last night everyone was complaining that they gained five pounds this weekend.  I am sure we are not alone.  I figure the entire country probably gained about 1.5 billion pounds the past few days.  Enough maybe to make Florida sink into the ocean.  If you live in Florida, don't feel bad though.  You could be in Florida and a turkey.

We once cleared a basketball court after the '69 snow to play hoops and if we want to play touch, we would've clear that field. Snow never stopped a football game; insufficient #s would; Glad you had a great time and found the wherewithal and fortitude to continue blogging.

I understand Fl is one big undiscovered sink hole to begin with. This year I got a kosher bird just to feel as if I belong. But to show it who the boss is I basted it with bacon and everyone here was from Mass. Happy Holiday
