A Long and Winding Road

This past weekend we took a road trip.  To Boston, to be exact, for the wedding of the daughter of a good friend. Tons of fun.

But my blog is about the trip there and back.  A long car ride, just my husband and me.

After we have talked for a while and caught up, our car rides quickly turn to music and loud, very loud I’m afraid, singing.  We have about two dozen CDs with music ranging from showtunes to Bruce.

This trip we switched back and forth between Hairspray and Fiddler on the Roof.  During the Fiddler portion of the trip, I have been known to come very close to acting out the entire dream scene. This includes reenacting my part in the middle school play portraying the butcher’s dear darling departed wife.

Sound fun? Or just a little weird . . .

How do you pass the time on a long car ride?

I find car rides conducive to conversation and reminiscing.

Long car rides tend to start with talking and then moves to my wife sleeping and me trying to stay awake. Music helps as does talk radio. Funny, on the trip back, I usually prefer a quiet ride to reflect on what we did on that trip or want to do when we get back home.

Lucky Bill!, since you’re such a great singer. How’s he?
