Lost in the Amazon

Categories
Holidays

My wife couldn’t get the Amazon app to open on her computer, but I could on my phone.  So I agreed to help, in my way, with her holiday shopping.

And so began the following innocent, incompetent and frustrating adventure exploring the Amazon.

In my own way, I then ordered the wrong thing or the wrong size or the wrong color.  Or I ordered the right thing in the right size and right color in doubles.

When I say doubles I’m not talking candy bars, I’m talking about an item costing lots of dollars.

My first reaction was creative.  I’ll just give the second one to our other son.

Then I discovered a cancellation button which I pushed with relief. But moments later I received a “Too Late” message.

So what to do?

I forged ahead (doubled down if you will) and cancelled them both and now can only hope for the best :)

I feel you. I had a long conversation last night with Amazon customer service. Their solution was - accept the item and then return it. I suggest you call Amazon so they have it on record. Any way. If you are a prime member they are very accommodating. Good luck !

Once you get the hang of it, it becomes easier to navigate as well as check your order before placing it. You then have to worry about the addictive ease of it all, which is what Amazon is hoping happens.

The good news about Amazon is that MacKenzie Scott has given to nonprofits 14 BILLION dollars. Amazon is easy, fast and has EVERYTHING, bad news is that it is putting a lot of independent sellers out of biz. "Change is inevitable. Growth is optional" - John Maxwell

And I first thought you were talking about a jungle ... and then I realized you were.

Good luck! I’ve always been lucky dealing with issues with them. They’re pretty good. Hoping for a good outcome for you!

We used to do that in person, at malls, where we got the wrong thing, and then we (or our gift recipients) had to make another trip to the mall to return/exchange, etc. The good thing now is that we can do all of that while wearing pajamas with a cup of coffee from our homes, and even if we receive the wrong thing, we have free returns and UPS labels. The bad thing is that stores are suffering and jobs are lost. The shopping mall will soon be a thing of the past, and commercial strips will need to innovate to stay alive. In my neighborhood, we lost Century 21, Modell's, TJ Maxx, New York & Company, and some of the mom and pop shops which were dependent on the foot traffic generated by the "hub" stores. I've recently counted 14 closed shops in just one block of our commercial strip. It's sad - fortunately, our restaurant and bar strips remain strong.

When you say lots of dollars, was it 2 or 3 singles?

We were hesitant to shop on Amazon for a number of years, but we finally gave in during the pandemic and prime is a life saver.

I found their calling feature is great. Just let them call you.

Do not forget many brick and mortars feature their own websites.
I shop around when I look at a product. When use Amazon I take advantage of its donations features and re-enter the site view my SNAP senior center website (upper left) - http://snapqueens.org/ http://snapqueens.org/ - to check out and this direct dome support its way.
