We tried to get a reservation for Valentine’s Day’s dinner at one of our favorite “special occasions” restaurants only to learn that others had the same idea and we were placed on the waiting list. So we made a backup reservation at its sister restaurant — which we had never tried.
As we waited in vain for a spot off the waitlist, apprehension grew over our destiny for dinner. Would it be special for a special occasion?
Casting fate to the winds, we resigned ourselves to our second choice — hoping for the best.
Our apprehension vanished as we entered the restaurant and saw Gotham’s culinary aficionado, David Abeshouse with Gotham’s Steve Millon and their wives enjoying their dinner.
Dinner was wonderful. Fate served us well.

We went through a similar situation but in our case, we wanted to try a place we heard about but never went to. We ere placed on their waiting list, and reservations on an old favorite. We got the call a few days before, that a spot came up and we took it. I never go to a place we never went to for a special occasion. It turned out to be a great meal.

It was a very nice surprise bumping into you and Flo on Valentine's Day, Ben.  We've been to the two sister restaurants, and both are excellent.  I'm glad you enjoyed your dining experience, and perhaps we'll have happenstance occur again!
