It's a Fortune

Partaking in Chinese food on a Friday evening has always been a tradition for us.  Perhaps not every Friday night, but wherever possible.  With full disclosure, I’m pretty sure this is an example of a husband indulging his wife.  I can’t say Bill enjoys the experience as much as I do. But yet, we go.

The Friday night tradition ends with the ceremonial reading of the fortune cookie.  I don’t necessarily enjoy eating a fortune cookie – but the dining experience is not complete without some pearls of wisdom on a little slip of paper neatly slipped inside a sweet cookie.

This past Friday, we found my fortune to be particularly profound. While this sentiment would be true at any time, at this current juncture in time I suggest it has even more meaning. It said:

Mind your words; they have the power to build or destroy.

Kindness starts with kind words.  Look at that -- a fortune cookie sharing a world lesson.
