I knew it was coming. First, I received the questionnaire. And then a month later it followed: the summons for jury duty.

I was last summoned for jury duty about eight years ago and I was let go the first afternoon.

This time I was summoned for June 9; a day I already have a hearing scheduled.  I sat down to write the request for a postponement and read the summons in its entirety. It provided an email address wherein I could request a one-time adjournment. I did so and strategically asked for August as I know that there are very few trials in August.

I received an email notification that they have registered my email address but nothing more. So, I guess, I’ll be calling this week to make sure they granted the postponement.
