The Challenges of Modern Technology

It was time I suppose.  My more than five year old laptop was very good to me. But five years in technology years made my laptop more like a relic whose time had come.  So this weekend's project was to buy a new one.  Shopping wasn't so bad, it was fun actually.

But the set up and adjustment has been particularly trying -- and time consuming -- I think in light of Windows 8, Microsoft's new operating system.

To me, it is very different and not as intuitive as I had hoped.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy new technology.  But I think Windows 8 is going to take me some time to get used to.

So anyone have some Windows 8 insight for me?  Any tips?  I am open to any ideas you might have.

Wish I could help; but I'm a MAC person.

I'd have seized the moment to get a MacBook and a large external flat screen.
There should be on line tutorials to help you get through.
I fully expect that you will experience outreach from Gotham's excellent computer pros.

My MacBook Pro is nearly 4 years old and I am thinking of upgrading soon to, of course, another Mac. I have been a MAC person since 1989. We have an HP notebook in the house. It is one of my husband's; although he uses his MAC 99% of the time. Thankfully there are so many computer experts in Gotham to help you out with Windows 8.

My home laptop is creaky and slow. All three of our kids (even the thirteen year old) are MAC equipped. I tried using one and it is much more user friendly.

I originally learned on a MAC back in 1990, and then my employer made the whole bank harmonize to PCs. Hated that! Maybe I can get my partners to make the switch...
