Solar City

The world's largest solar farm is fully operational. Called Ivanpah, it has almost 350,000 mirrors the size of garage doors that tilt toward the sun with an ability to energize 140,000 homes covering over 5 square miles of the Mojave Desert.

Solar Power

All those mirrors are focused on tubs of water to make steam. That cost 2.2 Billion dollars of which Google is part owner. Maybe it's a prelude to your own personal solar powered heater...Google Mirror.

The big view

It is an amazing site, even if they had to relocate some tortises. Wonder if the tortises mind?...

Tortoises may or may not mind but if anyone recalls Westway in the 70s and 80s the highway we "enjoy" in Manhattan's West Side resulted a perceived to to protect a marine habitat and species. Gotham enjoys some who promote solar energy so I expect them to chime in.

On that note, while it's not my primary business (school admissions), my part time solar business actually has an exclusive partnership with Elon Musk's SolarCity, the dominant player in residential solar. Believe it or not, anyone you know in SolarCity markets throughout the country (northeast and 14 states in total) can now take advantage of no-cost installation and maintenance of solar....and you can potentially save a lot of money over the long haul (not to mention the environmental impact). Ask me if you have questions!

I had read about Solar City a while ago. As a Realtor who has the designations of Eco-Broker and GREEN I am very interested! I have several family members who have had solar panels installed. Savings are awesome! And yes great on the environmental impact. Saves you money and your home will be worth more if you decide to sell. So keep those bills handy to compare your cost to the home that is selling in your neighborhood!!!!! Very powerful!
