It’s Comforting

Every year, at the end of the year, most magazines and newspapers start publishing lists. These lists have included the top earners for the year, the most googled people for the year, top news stories of the year, best movies of the year, etc.

One list that caught my eye this year was a list published by Google entitled, "The Top Ten Recipe Searches of 2013.” Included in this list was chili, lasagna, cronuts, French toast, apple pie, guacamole, meatballs, hummus, sangria, and pizza dough. One news writer wrote that this list clearly suggests that Americans have been searching for comfort foods this year.

My comfort food is soup. You can find me on most Sundays in the winter in my kitchen making a huge pot of soup. My favorites to make and eat are chicken soup (my Mom’s recipe), vegetable soup, clam chowder, and split pea soup. To me, there’s nothing more comforting than eating a big bowl of hot thick soup when it’s cold outside.

What’s your comfort food?

Happy holidays Gotham!

It's a tie between meatloaf and brisket. How about sharing some soup recipes?

Hi Rona, I agree ! Their is a kosher pizzeria with a chef owner by me in Floral Park. A minute from LIJ. He has 5 or so home made soups to die for. All the best, Mark Krieger
