Commute or not commute, that is the question

Do you have the option to work remotely and/or in person?

I work from home 2 days per week, if I choose, but work in the office the other 3-5 days.  While I find I am more productive in the office, I also enjoy the comradery of my coworkers.  However, that couple of days a week at home allow me to handle some things around the house that I would not otherwise get to.

That being said, I am working toward having the 2 days at home being truly "off" days and not work from home days, and if I am able to do that, I will switch those 2 days to Saturday and Sunday rather than the current, Tuesday / Friday!.

How do you mix your work time?

Almost all at home. Saved commuting time is a bonus!

Being down south and working up north, I have little choice. But when coming up each month to NY, I spend most time in the field. I try to avoid the office if I can.

I think the world has shifted to hybrid schedule with 2 days remote most often. I don't see how that will reverse itself.

Nothing is better than working with a team on location. Presence matters and being present has become more valuable as it is less common. I think that’s a good thing. With today’s technology, it makes sense for most to work remotely. It also cuts down on the number of “in-the-way” people who could impede my super important business matters.

I'm actually more productive at home. I don't answer the phone unless I choose to. In the office I feel compelled to answer.

Interesting mix. I work from home 2 days and 3 days in the field!

I am a hybrid fan. We are in the office core days -- Tue/Wed/Thu -- Monday and Friday are optional. I find it the perfect balance since I really do enjoy being in the office.

I am just the opposite as far as productivity, but I rarely take calls at home because I find I often need the full file to answer questions

All work and no play catches up to you sooner or later. Time to learn to play as hard as you work. It will feel foreign at first but pay big dividends in improved productivity at work and peace at home. Good luck!

I have been working from home for 18 years. My team used to be connected by phone and then we switched to zoom. It was one of the things that attracted me to the business and that has not changed. I can make a schedule that accommodates me and the people I work with. It's been interesting to watch people adapt to remote work.
