Fireworks

We saw fireworks last weekend at Point Lookout on Long Island. It was the first time in a long time that we've been outdoors seeing the fireworks up close and personal.

The pyrotechnics were spectacular and the experience was heightened by Ray Charles' singular rendition of "America". It gave me a chill.

Being outdoors on a perfect Summer night, watching fireworks and listening to Ray Charles being patriotic is one Great American experience.

God bless America!

As a witness to the same fireworks show (I was really there for the "opening act"), it was nice show, great eve and with fine company.

fireworks are always a thrill

Fred your lovely evening sounds inspirational; hope you had a happy 4th! I watched the Macy's Fireworks on TV and was not impressed as in years past. Felt like they cut back & there was not enough patriotic music. Glad I did not trek to watch in person, only to be disappointed by what seemed a promo for Usher's music. There's nothing like fireworks to a heart pounding John Phillip Souza march or an emotional Ray Charles "America"

Some of my favorite memories is standing on the beach in Long Beach watching the fireworks.

Ray Charles singing America and Whitney Houston singing The Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl years ago always gives me goosebumps. One day I will tell you about my dear friend Danny who always stands whenever he hears the National Anthem, no matter where he is or what he is doing. Also I remember Kate Smith singing God Bless America. Isn't it amazing how she managed to keep her figure all those years?

Love Ray Charles. I saw him perform at Tanglewood a few years ago. He didn't see me though.
