When The Music Stopped

Bette kept on going.

Sunday night, Bette Midler won the coveted Best Actress in a Musical for her role in the revival of Hello Dolly. I happen to be a huge Bette Midler fan, so perhaps I am biased.

But I thought she looked wonderful and her speech was hilarious. Nothing was going to stop her. It went on for four minutes. Even when the music started to cue her off the stage, she just yelled and the orchestra and kept on talking.

She has had a long and blessed career and there were just too many people to thank.

Congratulations to Bette. Anyone want to see Hello Dolly with me?

Too bad Satchmo wasn't there to sing to her.

Title mais me think of that fateful winter day.

I am known to be close to a likely suspect to attend things on Broadway that do not involve the Beacon Theater

She was simply divine! BRAVO!!! We are going to see her tonight.
John Buscarello

She stood her ground - and out lasted the music. "This thing has the ability to lift your spirit in these terrible terrible times...." and it does from the first note to the last -- and don't forget the word come straight from Thornton Wilder....You will be glad you saw it! Be aware Donna Murphy plays Dolly on Tuesdays...

Yes it was fun and she is an performer. However, inside story--she is such a Diva that she refused to perform on the show, unlike everyone else in the theatre (Patti and Christine, David Hyde Pierce (he was drafted in her stead), etc.
If you are going to charge up to $1,450 per ticket the least you can do is be a team player.

Seeing her in December-
Got great seats
Praying for no snow
Btw, I saw her Clams on the Half Shell Revue in 1974, very pregnant with Jeremy.... still remember how great (and tiny) she was!!

I love The Divine Miss M but if everyone took as long as they want, they suck the time from other players - there is only so much time paid for. I'm with Gideon, be a team player. :-)
