Unmasking
Posted By : Rona Gura

How long do you think we will continue wearing face masks? Even though I am vaccinated, and boosted, I began wearing masks again in public places after the Delta variant surge. My daughter contacted Covid then which made me put the mask back on. Additionally, at the same time, a client contacted two days after she was in my office, when neither of

A simple question

Thanksgiving is only two weeks away and I'm thinking about it everyday. My family together again!    As you may or may not know, I usually fry a turkey and grill 2 ducks (I'll send you the recipe if you'd like:). I'm thinking about changing things up a bit...like smoking one duck while I grill the other. What do you think? It'll require more time

4 Seasons?

When I was young there was a lovely character on the Howdy Doody show named Princess Summerfallwinterspring. Such a creative moniker! As I grew older, I always remembered the Princess as we reveled in our good fortune to enjoy New York’s full 4 season splendor:  Spring and it’s green regeneration, sparkling Summer sun at the beach and colorful Fall

Fall Back

This past Monday - the first day in the office after leaving daylight savings time - I couldn’t figure out how the morning had passed so quickly until I realized that I hadn’t turned back the clock on my desk. I looked up from my work and saw that it was approaching noon, paused and finally realized that it was only eleven. I reset the clock with a

DIANA: The World’s Cultural Icon
Posted By : ODEY RAVIV

It is almost 25 years since Diana’s death and she remains a focus of so much attention. We have Netflix’s The Crown, a CNN Documentary Diana, the film Spencer(D’s maiden name)  about her family’s Christmas as the Princess. And, believe it or not, the Broadway Musical, Diana is about to open.   Diana was 19, when she wed a future King.  She won over

Recipe Time!

It is almost surreal to be planning an actual holiday in my house.  I bought the turkey last weekend.  Frankly, the turkey is the easiest part of the meal.   Of course, the sweet potato pudding will  be on the table, along with corn bread, stuffing and mashed potatoes  Rumor has it there is also going to be some homemade gluten free macaroni and ch

I've Been Influenced

We had the conversation several months ago over lunch.  Some of the women in the office mentioned how much they love their cashmere sweaters. I had responded that I never owned a cashmere sweater, essentially because I felt they were generally very expensive.   I did not notice it initially but soon thereafter I noticed an ad popping up on my Insta

MAD Giving

Halloween and Election Day are old news now (well for most of us) and Thanksgiving Day approaches.  With that I often think about the day after when my Pythian Lodge holds a BINGO fundraiser the night after. But, a few years back, an event a few days later captured my attention; and this year I opt to focus attention on it a bit earlier:  Giving Tu

It's Urgent

Ever notice how everything we see and read has a sense of urgency about it?   These are 3 of today's headlines... • Another intraparty revolt by Democrats imperils swift passage... • "It's our lives on the line": Thousands of young protesters demand urgent action on... • All those 23andMe spit test were part of a bigger plan.   Not to mention the

The best Situation Comedies reflect the times and make us think about circumstances and experiences beyond our reality.  A rating of the top 100 SCs in Rolling Stone covered a lot of territory.  TV fans check it out.     The top 5 in descending order are: All in the Family, I Love Lucy, Seinfeld, Cheers, and the winner-The Simpsons.     The idea th

Spooky Halloween
Posted By : Nancy Schess

Years past, I scheduled the day off every Halloween.  Trick-or-treating was always a highlight. Our neighborhood used to swarm with kids and we loved being part of the swarm.   I remember Jaclyn’s first Halloween.  We literally had to teach her how to trick-or treat.  She thought the idea was that after collecting candy from a house, she was suppos

Journaling
Posted By : Rona Gura

I’ve been playing around with the thought for several years. Last week I finally committed to it. I bought a journal. I bought it at Weight Watchers so, a part of the reason for the journal is for me to record and  review my eating and wellness habits. Which I did this past week and noticed some interesting habits.    But this journal has a lot mor
