Pace of play

Everything is moving faster it seems. Business, the proliferation of AI, and even baseball. As my Uncle says "Faster, Better, Cheaper" :)   I try to slow things down on the weekends. Kind of catch my breath which is sometimes difficult to do. People appear to be always hurrying to get somewhere. I often think that they are missing the journey.   S

A Social Art Project
Posted By : Fred Klein

This past Tuesday night we had 2 Art Aficionado friends over for what I have dubbed as a Social Art Project.  It took place in my Artist wife Joanne's Art studio and there was champagne, Dylan music and delicious Greek food, but mostly it was about creating Art.   Our Art Project is called Exquisite Corpse (words in the first line of a similar writ

Mother Nature

Last Sunday, we were at an upscale art fair in Southampton. Very upscale.Big tents set on an open field. Hundreds of galleries. All of a sudden, we heard what sounded like a train roaring by. There had been the forecast of possible thunderstorms and we quickly realized that the forecasts were, in fact, materializing. But we never expected what was t

AM Radio

AM Radio. Some will say that AM Radio has the largest audience of any media platform. Some are asking if it will survive in the future. There have been some headlines that a few car companies will no longer offer it. Tesla says the AM frequency interferes with the battery operations so Tesla's do not have AM Radio.  If you listen to AM Radio does t

Prime Day 2023
Posted By : Nancy Schess

What did you think of Prime Day this year?  Are you an Amazon shopper and did you indulge?   I completely passed this year, and I have to admit I am a bit of an Amazon fan.  The convenience is hard to beat.  But, the Prime Day hype just didn’t call me this year.   Apparently I was in the minority as it seems this Prime Day 2023 was Amazon’s most su

It's Definitely Listening

I have written about this subject before. A new event occurred that I found so unnerving that I had to write about it again.   My step-son recently got engaged.  Right after the engagement, on that Saturday night, both immediate families met for dinner. The next day, Sunday, my step-son planned a party at a local pub for their entire families and t

Hot!

Occasionally, we attend a Broadway show with friends; they choose the show; (on the date of) an earlier group event we ventured instead to the South Orange Performing Arts Center in New Jersey to see Richie Furay. There was no conflict this time and all in our group agreed that everything clicked in Some Like It Hot at the Shubert Theatre. The song

Dependence

I had called Verizon Thursday afternoon to complain about their coverage. It has gotten worse over the past 6 months. Areas which usually showed full bars now barely have two and sometimes the coverage is nonexistent.   The woman who took my call told me I had to update the SIM card in my iPhone and gave me explicit instructions which I followed...

Coming Attractions
Posted By : Fred Klein

We have started going back to the movies, but following our last, most recent, visit I'm not quite sure... We arrived in time for the scheduled start of our chosen flick, unaware that the next 15 minutes are devoted to Coming Attractions and other less biting commercials.  I say "less biting" because the Coming Attractions took a shocking bite out

Stay the Course

Years ago, Fred and I would routinely meet at lunchtime for a run in Central Park. With its circular road and crossroads, the park offers the potential for runs of many varied distances. We would plan to run a long run one or two days a week and shorter runs on alternate days.On those long runs, we would approach the cutoff that would take us on a

Entitlement issues
Posted By : Crysti Farra

It seems everywhere I turn these days I come across people with entitlement issues. Some ingrained. Some manufactured. Some deserved. The ingrained seem to originate from the wealth or stature in which you were raised. The manufactured type is the most vexing for me. It seems to be rampant in our youth of today. The seem to have a mistaken impressi

Did You Miss Me?

Last week’s blog was a conundrum – an absent conundrum.  The July 4 holiday sent my entire calendar out of whack.  By Tuesday evening when I realized I was off by an entire day, it was too late.   So, my blog spot sat quiet, empty.    I thought about hopping on for a quick blog late Tuesday night but decide quiet was better.   A belated Happy 4th

Delegating
Posted By : Rona Gura

Are you a good delegator?   During Covid I let my assistant go.  It made economic sense at the time. Since that time, I have had the opportunity to evaluate the tasks she typically performed as I have had to do almost all of them myself.    Unfortunately, I learned that a lot of her work was just repetitive of my work. For example, she paginated my

I am not always a first adaptor when it comes to new things.  I often rely on my children when it comes to technology and new media.  Jonathan was first with the MacBook and the iPhone and iPad.  Marisa set her dad up on instagram which I use sparingly.  With the issues involving twitter, I followed other options.  After reading a recent email comm

Heat

It's breaking records just about everyday. Record heatwaves are a stark reminder of the urgent need to address climate change.   They impact our health, the environment, and our communities...we need to stay hydrated big time. My coaches used to tell me to "drink before you're thirsty." Great advice, so get yourself a tall glass of water.
