A new Olympic sport
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Wife carrying has a dedicated following in the UK and some parts of northern Europe, however I don't think this will make it to the Olympics :-) Although it does have a UK Champion final...   If you're wondering, the sport is open to any adult couple, married or not, with the “wife” - of any gender - required to weigh at least 50 kg (110 pounds).

A good chuckle for a Saturday :-)     Police in Georgia shared this security camera footage of a GameStop store burglar who tried to conceal his face with an unusual disguise -- a clear plastic wrapper.   As pictured above, the video shows the male suspect wearing the plastic wrapper from a package of bottled water over his head, completely failin

A special evening

I, and other members of the book club I belong to, had a special treat last night. A delicious dinner at the Friars with the author of the book we read.   Marty Appel, author of 20 books, PR Director for the Yankees among other very notable achievements, was there to talk about his experiences with the Yankees and most importantly about his latest

The following is a direct quote from a news source. Is it real?   “In an effort to demonstrate the social media platform’s total commitment to profits, Mark Zuckerberg took to his personal Facebook page Thursday to promise that the company’s misuse of personal data will, as of now, happen again and again. ‘We have a responsibility to our users, and

Passover, Easter, April Fools, Good Friday, Palm Sunday...the perfect holiday storm. Chopped liver, easter eggs, slow cooked brisket, golden maple ham, plus so much more, all converging in stomachs across the United States (at least in this household:)   Family, laughs, hugs, smiles, deep discussions, jokes, prayers, traditions are all a part of my

Tooling along in the right lane, south on rte 135, last week at about 60 mph (cruise control), listening to a book, heat seater and steering wheel heater on, and I'm enjoying the moment.   A blue Subaru mini SUV pulls up to my left in the middle lane and slows down. They position themselves just off my left front bumper. Then, without notice, they

An old message
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Your intrepid blogger has dug up a fascinating true story.   More than 131 years after being thrown overboard, the world's oldest message in a bottle has washed up on a beach in western Australia. The bottle was found by Tonya Illman and Grace Ricciardo in the dunes near Wedge Island in January.   Weeks of research traced the historic note back to

There's nothing like a good massage. It loosens up your whole body and relaxes your mind.   I was fortunate to enjoy one last week. My masseuse was a woman who was obviously visually impaired but she greeted me with a warm smile and showed me to the room, subtly touching her surroundings as she found her way. While I undressed I wondered what this

Uber this

Several of my friends often plan Uber nights. It's essentially a plan to drink and let Uber drive you around. Everyone can drink and not worry about driving home.   Well here's an interesting result of an Uber night as reported by SkyNews. A drunk Uber user was hit with a $1,635 bill after falling asleep and embarking on a 300-mile journey across t

A capital idea

Imagine walking into a restaurant, bar or public place and no one is on their phone. Lot's of interaction...people talking smiling, arguing and sharing. It's unusual these days.   However, The Fat Boar, a pub in Wrexham, north Wales, is offering people 25 per cent off their food if they lock their phones away in a box on the table. They then have t

Watching the Olympics last night gave me pause. It was not the pagentry, CGI spectacular, fireworks or even the speeches. It was the symbolic, yet real, unification of North and South Korea marching into the arena under one flag. It was heart warming and hopeful. This not the first time this has happened but it is the first time they will be fieldi

If you want to buy a :30 spot on the Super Bowl you better open up your wallet because it now costs over $5million. That doesn't even include making the commerical which could cost anywhere from $1m - $5m. Last year the Super Bowl raked in over $419 million in air time   Why so much you ask? Because the audience is over 100 million which is just ab

Apparently in France people take their Nutella very seriously.     Parisian's emotional connections to Nutella were on display when a French supermarket chain drastically cut the price of a 2 lb jar of Nutella on Thursday. This resulted in never before seen outbursts of violence between customers fighting to get their hands on the product.   “They

What follows are some funny tweets I found...enjoy!   "I just spent 20 minutes at the store choosing the best food with only organic ingredients for my dog, then took my kids to Burger King."   "Steps to survive on a dessert island: 1. check spelling 2. if correct, enjoy"   "Carrots are a great thing to eat when you are hungry and want to stay that

IKEA is certainly pushing the envelope with a new ad just released in Sweden. The ad encourages pregnant women to urinate on it. The ad, which is running in one of Sweden's most widely-read women's magazines - states: "Peeing on this ad may change your life."     It adds: "Pee on the marked area and wait a moment. If you are expecting, you will
